Logistics for a Seamless Transition

With thoughtful preparation, moving can feel freeing—an opportunity to simplify and refresh your surroundings while keeping what matters most to you.

We encourage you to start early and take your time with the process. Think of it less as downsizing, and more as curating your space—choosing the items that bring comfort, meaning and ease to your everyday life.

To help smooth the transition:

  • Review the layout of your new space and envision how you’ll spend time there
  • Pass along meaningful items to friends or family, taking the opportunity to create moments of connection
  • Donate items that no longer serve you
  • Digitize photos and documents to make efficient use of space

In addition, consider working with a senior move manager who can coordinate packing, moving and even setting up your new home so it feels familiar and comfortable right away.

Once you’ve moved in, you’ll find that many of life’s daily chores—from maintenance to landscaping—are already taken care of, which gives you more time for taking morning walks, exploring the Village, making spontaneous plans and simply enjoying where you are.

Emotional Preparation

Even when you’ve decided that moving is the right decision, you’ll probably experience mixed emotions.

Leaving a longtime home means moving on from a place filled with memories. At the same time, you’re taking the next step of your personal journey to a place known for its warmth, friendliness and strong sense of belonging—which makes it an ideal place to continue making memories.

To support the emotional process of transition:

  • Visit frequently before your move. Spend time on campus, walk the grounds and visit common spaces
  • Attend events or social gatherings to start meeting future neighbors
  • Talk openly with your family and friends about this next step and your emotions around it

Getting Care in Order

One of the benefits at Heath Village is knowing that support is always close at hand.

With our on-campus full continuum of care, you can feel confident that your needs will be met—now and in the future—without leaving the community you’ve come to know.

As you prepare:

  • Gather your medical records and provider information for a smooth transition
  • Review your health care insurance plans and coverage
  • Ask any questions about how care transitions work so you feel fully informed and comfortable

It’s all part of creating a lifestyle that’s truly relaxing—knowing the details are taken care of and a plan is in place to support your long-term well-being.

Make Yourself at Home

The final step is personal—and often the most meaningful. Bring the pieces that make your space feel most like yours: favorite furniture, meaningful artwork, well-loved books. Arrange your space in a way that feels comfortable and intuitive.

Then, step outside and experience all the community has to offer. Take a walk. Stop by the clubhouse. Say hello. Accept an invitation.

At Heath Village, you’ll find that home extends well beyond your front door. It’s in the atmosphere, as well as the people who make this community so unique. Because for us, connecting with neighbors comes naturally.
